BF Weekly Round-up

It almost feels like I shouldn't have anything to report in this round up. I was sick all week so I barely cooked which means I barely had anything to show you guys. Still, I did manage to get some good info out there and, luckily, next week is a new week with new possibilities!

So let's review.

Monday

I tried out HyperPlex Everlast chocolate protein...and had the weirdest food memory.

Tuesday

I sneezed a lot.

Wednesday

I gave my review of Fiber One English muffins. Cardboard? No. Delicious? Yes. Nooks and Crannies? Well...read the review to get my verdict!

Thursday

We came one step closer to matching Starbucks Frapp collection with the Strawberry Click Frapp. Yummy!

Friday

I fell into a weird trance that had me asleep a good part of the day BUT...the cold went away AND I still did not eat meat because I made....

Saturday

Crab & Asiago Egg Casserole! This thing is SO yummy. I heart asiago cheese.

This week I also plunged into the wonderful world of Twitter! If you tweet, follow @PouchParty on Twitter! I've been keeping an eye on my feed and Twitter giving has struck...twice! Keep Tweeting peeps! If it looks like you could use a "pick me up" or some guidance, who knows? I might just play pouch fairy for you too! And don't forget to follow Pouch Party on Facebook too to get all sorts of extra product reviews, cool WLS vocab and lots of fun!

On to next week!

BF Weekly Round-Up

I don't know what happened this week, but BF has had more daily page views than it ever has! I don't know if that's because you guys are spreading the word or what...but whatever it is you are doing - keep doing it!

So this week was all about REALLY crave-worthy food. Let's review

Monday:

We kicked things off with my red beans and rice! Very nice! I made this last Sunday and it was gone that night! Luckily I stowed away a portion for lunch the next day, eh?

Tuesday:

My salty caramel dessert is sooooo good. Have you tried it yet? If you don't have sugar-free caramel pudding at your local store, request it so you can try this!

Wednesday:

By far the most popular post this week was my Mexican Egg Casserole (which is a totally made up name, btw). Can you believe I still have a good sized piece left in my fridge? That's what I get for making something only I eat. Next time, maybe I'll freeze half of it up front.

Thursday:

We had four cheese mashed cauliflower. And man was it good! The divas love mashed cauliflower so this, unlike the egg casserole, went pretty quickly.

Friday:

Was meatless of course and I had Thai Tuna sliders. YUM! All you need is a few simple ingredients and a can of tuna and you too can be transported to another place...

Saturday:

I shared what I eat in a day. I think that is important because many folks fear how much they can eat when they are further out. That's why so much emphasis is put on knowing your satiety cues. When you're early out it's not so much a problem but later down the line, you have to watch yourself. I want to stand as a living example that a person can be healthy and successful and eat decent meals!

I hope you enjoyed this week on Bariatric Foodie. If you have any suggestions, hit me up! And don't forget to take the poll to your right. My next BF Basics series will come out this summer and YOU get to pick the subject!

Happy Sunday everyone!

BF Weekly Round-up

Happy Spring everyone!

Last week set our clocks an hour ahead and today is the spring equinox. I'm so excited! I'm definitely a summer girl and I come alive in warm weather. What's your favorite season?

This week was a good week over here in the "messy kitchen" (I name everything, by the way. My kids are the divas, you guys are Pouchers and that's my name for my kitchen). I used up lots of things that needed using and created some serious yumminess in doing so!

For those who missed any of the yummies, here's a recap for you!

Monday:

I shared the most ridiculously simple method of making shredded pork barbecue. It's great for those of us without the time or the "grill skills" to do the original version.

Tuesday:

We went in a COMPLETELY different direction with my mango salsa. On the Pouch Party Facebook Fan Page and here in the comments I've already heard about how some of you plan to use this. Here's one thing I did with it:

A bright, beauitiful salad with salad greens, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, a little sprinkle of cheese, the mango salsa and some shrimp. I do meatless Fridays during Lent and with lunches like this, who misses chicken, beef and pork?

Wednesday:

The exotic theme continued with Chicken Tikka Masaala atop fluffy cauliflower rice. Those of you into Indian food HAVE to check this one out. Even I was surprised by how easy it was!

Thursday:

Was St. Patrick's Day. And besides sharing my love for inappropriate t-shirts, I also shared a happy mistake that ended in the perfect triple chocolate protein shake!

Friday:

This meatless Friday, I showed a fast-food breakfast swap that would satisfy anyone in your family. My Fruity "Maple" Oatmeal beats McDonald's hands down!

Saturday:

BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Peanut Butter, 5.04 Pound

I shared my Top 5 favorite protein powders! For pre-ops and new folks especially, I thought it would be good to have a starting point to explore powders. I hope it was helpful.

Stick around next week as the yumminess continues. I'll be serving up:
  • My spin on another southern classic
  • The details on how I am (and you hopefully will be) counting down the days until summer
  • A nifty little dessert I've been obsessed with the last few weeks. Three words: 100 calorie indulgence!

BF Weekly Roundup

Due to various acts on the part of the dark forces of the universe, this post has not gone up as scheduled the last two weeks. No more! I am taking control and making a commitment to do it. Why? Because I know you guys are busy and you have your lives so I think it makes things a lot easier to have this post to sum up everything we've discussed in a week. Let me know if you agree. (or disagree).

So...this was Carb Week here on Bariatric Foodie. I was so excited to bring you the Carb Confusion series this week to give a basic primer on carbs and how they fit into our lives post-WLS. Please remember that this series is available as a free download that you can take with you!

Here's what we covered this week:

Monday: We jumped right into our carb exploration with part one of Carb Confusion ("what the hell is a carb, anyway?"). I also gave a heads up on a cool new oatmeal product.

Tuesday: In part two of Carb Confusion, we discussed how simple vs. complex carbs isn't that simple a concept, I reviewed a high protein pasta and gave the recipe to my uber-nummy Mexican spaghetti sauce.

Wednesday: Did you know there is a time for every carb? If not, check out part three of Carb Confusion to learn why.

Thursday: In this week's "BF Top 5" I gave my top 5 pics for beneficial cereals. We also discussed carbs & fiber in part four of Carb Confusion.

Friday: It's Lent, which means meatless Fridays for Nik, so I shared my grown up answer to a PB&J sandwich along with the final installment of Carb Confusion, about making carbs work in YOUR plan.

Saturday: Um...I was kinda in a Carb Coma...zzzzzz...

Sunday: Earlier today, I shared my super-easy method for making cauliflower rice.

Now that we're all educated about carbs and whatnot, let's get back to a great mix of recipes next week, including:

  • The world's simplest method for making pork barbecue
  • Got extra mangos needing to be used? (or is that just me?) I've got a great recipe for them!
  • A popular Indian dish to serve over your cauliflower rice!

BF Weekly Round-up (week of 2/14)

This is something new I'm trying out. I figured it'd be an easy way to summarize everything we've covered on Bariatric Foodie this week!

Monday: we went over the details of the Pouch Party Pledge and announced the winner!

Tuesday: For all the Reuben lovers in the house, I offer the recipe for my adorable Reubein ramekin!

Wednesday: We visited the BF Kid Zone to use up the leftover low-carb pie crust from last week to make low-carb/low-fat/high-fiber pocket sandwiches and I shared the Seven Habits of a Bariatric Foodie. Are you one?

Thursday: I took a day off! Whew!

Friday: I showed you how to make a WLS-friendly version of a breakfast treat featured on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" - Captain Nik's Protein French Toast!

Saturday: I called for Pouch Party Pledge Week 3 check-ins! Have you submitted yours yet? If not, you have until 8 p.m. today (Sunday)!

So there you have it...a week's worth of Bariatric Foodie. Stay tuned next week when we'll:
  • Go into the FINAL week of the Pouch Party Pledge!
  • Debunk the myth that you can't have your taco salad in a taco bowl!
  • Swing by the "peach pit" for some more ramekin fun!
Stay tuned...and keep playing with your food!
