How to Pledge

For many of you, your week two pledge might be the same as week one. Some of you, I saw, realized through your first week's pledge other thngs you want to work on. Either way is fine! Remember, this is a tool for you to use however you feel is best. So pledge the same, pledge differently...just make sure to pledge!

In case you don't remember how to pledge (or if you are joining us for the first time this week - welcome!) there are three ways to submit your pledge. Whichever way you choose, your pledge MUST be in by noon tomorrow!!! No exceptions!

  1. Leave your pledge as a comment on this blog post. NOTE: Please leave at least your first name and last initial in the blog comment with your pledge so you can identify yourself on the pledge list AND so I can identify you if you win the contest! (Also if you used a different name last week you might want to let me know what that was if you want to get credit for the grand prize drawing).
  2. You may also pledge on Twitter by tweeting the following. “This week I’m taking the @BariatricFoodie Pledge to [insert goal]. http://bit.ly/Apolxn"
  3. You may pledge on Facebook by following these steps:
  • Go to the Bariatric Foodie Wall and post “This week, I am taking the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to [insert your goal]. To learn how YOU can win prizes for setting goals, visit http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/.” Make sure you get all of that statement on there.

For my Week 2 pledge, I pledge to make sure I eat my protein first with at least 70 grams per day. This used to be easy several years ago, but I have picked up sooo many of my bad habits again without even thinking about "The Rules".

For week 2 I am going to be better at monitoring both protein and carbs. I am striving for 71+ on protein and at least 175 in carbs... Ugh!! I know I can't get it all in every day, but I want to be as close to this as possible and KNOW where I am so I can get closer!

I am going to do a "double" pledge for week two. I am going to get to the gym three days this week (just like last week!) and I am going to get all my vitamins in. This is a problem for me and my awful memory. I've got the fam in to help me.

This weeks prize is perfect for me as my pledge is to be better at taking my vitamins. Sadly I start out good but fall off due to job, not remembering, not bringing with me....the list can go on. Just minutes ago said I was going to order from Building Blocks because I felt I could stick to them better! So that is my pledge for this week and hoping to win the gift certificate! Going to order even if I don't though lol!

This week I am taking the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to drink at least 64 oz. of water/Crystal Light every. single. day. I am going to continue taking all of my vitamins (per last week's pledge) but I must get in my water... instead of so much coffee. I have an alarm to take my vitamins. When the alarm goes off, I will drink 16 oz. of water within 1/2 an hour. This is tough for me. I LOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEE coffee!

My Pledge this week is to just go with things instead of worrying constantly about it. In my life experiences it always works out so why do I stress. I know I still have to take action but I want to do less worrying so I don't reach for carbs instead of protein.

I am coming up on 8 months post op and having super difficulty with head hunger. It seems like my stomach starts growling 30 minutes-1 hour every time after I eat. So I have found myself grazing like crazy. My pledge is to focus on figuring out if I am really hungry or if it is something else. And I do track but I tend to leave off some of the grazing. Gotta get better at that too!

For my week two pledge, I pledge to go to the gym 3 days this week, and work out another 3 days at home - doing something is better than doing nothing! I love going to the gym, but have been so busy that it has fallen to the side lately.

For Week Two of the Bariatric Foodie Pledge, I am going to try to drink 64 to 80 ozs of water (not including tea). Since surgery 6 months ago, I have had a hard time meeting that goal so this week I am challenging myself to do that every day. Good luck everyone!

For my 2nd week of pledging I have picked to not be so hard on myself. Think POSITIVE and SEE the POSITIVE, not just the bad things. This goes from anything from looking in the mirror to seeing a few wrinkles (funny they weren't there 80 lbs ago lol), to the batwings, to my extra friend ~Rolly Polly on my tummy. I am still going to incorporate last wks pledge of eating healthier as family. :-)

I pledge to get enough water in throughout the day. I must remember that coffee doesn't count if it has caffeine! I will do this by always keeping a bottle filled with water and some drink mixes near me.

I really want to make an appointment to see my nutritionist to get "tweaks" on what I'm eating, but I can't see her without taking 2 weeks of records with me. So I know it's important, but I always find good excuses not to do it. So this week's pledge is an important one!

My second week pledge was to take my vitamins twice per day. While today hasn't yet eneded (it's 3:38 pm.), I've taken them twice everday. I will finish up this pledge by taking them tonight.

My pledge was to keep up with the couch to 5K program, week 2. I just eeked it out, a little disappointed that I only managed to work out 3 times this week. Although I did walk a lot today while I was out shopping :-) Work seems to be my only challenge, working so late that I don't have the motivation to get on the treadmill. What keeps me motivated is maybe running a 5K.
