***WEEK ONE OF THE BARIATRIC FOODIE PLEDGE IS CLOSED! ALL PLEDGES SUBMITTED BEFORE 12 EST WILL BE ENTERED IN THE WEEK ONE DRAWING***
PLEDGERS!How’s your week been? Good? Great? PHENOMENAL???
I want to hear about it…because it’s time to CHECK-IN!!! Remember, you MUST check-in to be eligible for the weekly prize drawing.
Check-ins are pretty simple. Just remember these two things to make your check-in a success:
- Check in the same place you pledged (Not sure where you pledged? Check here!)
- Use the same name you used to pledge
You need to restate your pledge and then answer these three questions:
- Did you achieve your goal?
- What challenged or inspired you?
- How will you keep this goal going?
Please note even if you didn’t achieve your goal, you are eligible for the prize drawing but you MUST check-in!!!
For Facebook Pledges: Please post your check-in directly on the Bariatric Foodie Wall. After you’ve done that, please hit the “reshare” link to share it with your friends. (Or if Facebook doesn't give you that option, simply copy your check-in and post it as your own status update.)
For Blog Pledges: I have removed the moderation from the comments through Monday, when the next round of pledges is due. Therefore, you should be able to see your check-in right away.
For Twitter Pledges: You can break this up into several tweets, but please tag @Bariatric Foodie on each one so I can see that you answered.
You have until 12:00 EST tomorrow, Sunday February 5, to submit your check-in. Please note that this is also when I will start accepting Week Two pledges and there will be a blog post saying more about that.
I’ll announce the winner of the prize drawing Sunday evening. Again, thanks to Davinci Gourmet for sponsoring this week's prize for our THREE winners: three bottles to each winner of sugar-free Davinci syrup!
Good luck everyone and thanks for participating!!!

This week I pledged to not eat any sugar. I was challenged almost daily because people at my job do almost noting but snack all day. I met my goal and did not eat any sugar or simple carbs, and I tracks my food as well. I plan to keep this going by keeping my mind on what's important--my health and weight loss.
I pledged to keep track of my food intake again. I have been using fitday and it is going well. I have been able to see that I am not getting as many calories as I thought and not enough protein. I think that I will continue to track my food until I am up to par with everything.

I pledged to get 64oz of water in daily... not counting coffee. I was successful all but one day (of which 10 hours were spent in a car). Challanges: Locating public restrooms every two hours on vacation! The benefit: Lost 2 pounds on vacation without trying, my skin looks better, and I'm not as achy. How I'll keep the good work up: bought a 20oz insulated cup for work, will fill it twice during my work day & plop a fruity tea bag in for flavor. Sharon M
My pledge for the week was to drink 80 oz. a day. I got it all in! I was really inspired by knowing I'm coming up on my year since surgery date. I remembered how I made water a priority right after surgery and I made sure to have a lot of SF drink packets around at home and at work. To keep it going, I set cell phone reminders to alert twice a day to ask me if I'm on target....so I'm not drinking 40 oz. before bed. :)

This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to avoid the temptation of snacking and I did relatively well - only a couple of minor slipups. What is challenging to me is that I am around grazers all day at my job and its hard to not join in with the crowd - I thought I'd left peer pressure behind in high school ;) I'm going to keep trying to eliminate the snacking and will break out the water bottle whenever the chips and cookies are put out at work.

This week I am taking the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to track my food and exercise this week.
•Did you achieve your goal? Yes
•What challenged or inspired you? I use Sparkpeople to track both. It keeps me accountable and is a very good visual of my daily intack and calories burned with exercise.
•How will you keep this goal going?
Continue to track with Sparkpeople to monitor protein, carbs, calories & exercise.

This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to remember to take my afternoon dose of calcium and I did! This is a challenge to me because this dose is taken at work and I tend to get busy and forget it. I am going to keep this goal going forward by setting a timer on my computer work calendar to remind me to take it!

This week I pledged to make a healthy meal at home all week. We did this for 6 out of the 7 days! The meals were delicious and healthy! The challenging part was finding quick meals that we would both like, without having a ton of leftovers. I will continue to do this, because not only is it healthy for our bodies, but for our wallets too!
I did fulfill my pledge to go to the gym three times this week. I set specific days, so I wouldn't procrastinate. It was challenging because the last day, I woke up very dehydrated and sick. I didn't think I would be able to get out of bed, let alone get to the gym. My coworkers were supportive, asking me on each of the three days if I was going or had gone down to the gym. I am going to keep going the three set days because I am going to remember how great I felt at the end of the work out. All the toxic thoughts and concerns left with the sweat!
This week I pledged to exercise at least 3 times and it was a struggle....I only managed 2. I will keep working on it though. I know it is too important to give up!
This week I pledged to get in 6 days of exercise
* Did you achieve your goal? Yes I did as soon as I go to boot camp this morning day 6 will be checked off!
* What challenged or inspired you? Push ups challenged me, I'm horrible at them but I'm gonna keep going till I master it! Oh and the "eye candy" at the gym sent me a message the other day and said he could tell I was working out hard!! That inspired me to keep on going!! ;)
* How will you keep this goal going? I recently signed up for a year of boot camp and since I sure don't want to waste that money I'll be going Mon-Sat from here on out!

This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to go to the gym 4 times this week, and I did. It was challenging because I this was the first week I started working out after surgery. But I’m going to keep this goal because I signed up to do the Susan G. Komen 3-day Walk for Breast Cancer!!

This week I pledged to drink at least 64 oz. of liquids every day. It was difficult but I did do it! Thursday was tough and ended up drinking those last ounces before bedtime - never again. Bladder's not what it used to be and woke up way before my alarm clock. Available time at work played an important part in keeping my goal, but necessary to keep mindful in order to continue this!

This week I pledge to drink at least 64oz of liquids. I did meet my pledge except for one day when I was a few ozs. shy. But I tried really hard the next day.

This week I took the Bariatric Foodie pledge to work out 4 days this week. I actually ended up working out 6 days this week. I was inspired to keep at it by those people who have successfully become athletes. What's going to keep it going: I know this surgery/tool is only going to work if I make it work for me, meaning exercise and eating right. I also set a goal of a women's half marathon in September. Its paid for and I wont want to lose that money!!!

This week, I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to take my vitamins, every day. I accomplished my goal this week. My challenge is that I'm horribly forgetful with medications and things of that like so I set up alarms on my phone to help me remember. By Friday, I was actually anticipating the alarms and staying on schedule on my own. Going forward, I will keep doing this because taking care of yourself is so very important and I'm worth it! (I sound like a commercial, LOL)
This week I took the pledge tot work out 4 times. I did it, but the sessions were not as long as I had hoped. I was more out of shape then I thought. But I made a point of moving 4 times!
This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge and pledged to take my vitamins. I have only missed one does out of 20... 95% success! Woooooot! I will continue to pay attention to the email alerts that I receive and not automatically delete them. I will leave them in my inbox until I actually swallow the pills! :) Love ya Nik! (This is Kris Hamilton.)
This week I pledged to make healthier food and have the family to eat healthier. So far it's worked!! It's been a struggle with them some but I know it's just not going to happen overnight :). As long as I keep fixing the healthier options they really won't have a choice but to eat it or go hungry lol

This week I tool.the Bariatric Foodie pledge to exercise Monday through Saturday. I did not accomplish this. Why? I forgot my hockey gear on Wednesday. There isn't time to get it and make the game. I ran instead. Well, I ended up with horrible shin splints...the kind I had as a kid. I still have pain walking. Letting my legs rest so I can get back to things. Won't run until I get new trainers.
I pledged to go to the gym 4 times this week and drink at least 64 oz of water. I didn't quite get the water in on all of the days but I did come close. I didn't go to the gym 4x but I did walk around my work building 3times this week for 30 minutes at a fast pace in addition to gym 3 times!
I pledged to stay loyal to my phase 2 liquid diet and not advance until I got the ok from my doctor. Well, I DID get the ok from the doc to advance a little bit! So, I added cottage cheese and egg beaters to my daily liquids. It's been a success. :)
This week I pleged to track all foods. I did it! Sweet success. It helped me realize what triggers I have and what time of days are my weakest.
I pledged to get up every morning at 6:15 and work out! I did it!!! I felt so strong and energized that I am going to keep this up!! I feel AWESOME!!!
This week I pledged to track my nutrition.
Did you achieve your goal? - Not fully , I was successful at writing down what I ate, but I didn't get it all into the actual tracker.
What challenged or inspired you? - The challenge was we ate out a a lot and now we are on vacation so it makes it difficult to track when you don't know exactly what your food has in it
How will you keep this goal going? Once I get back to my regular routine I will be able to really keep track of recipes used etc.
I pledged to work on the head games - using the quote as inspiration.
I am not sure I was successful, but there was progress. The end of the week had some pretty gnarly stress and I slipped back into the failure mindset. I am already working to better in the future by getting the counseling needed to work through the week's events
I pledged to track my food using LiveStrong this week. I've tracked nearly everything I've eaten (couldn't find some items on it, like camel meat!) and it's really given me a better idea of how much I'm consuming. I haven't tracked in months so this has been an excellent reminder to watch everything. Kim T
I pledged to get more protein in daily this week. I did get more in and I dropped about three lbs. and had much more energy.
My 1st week pledge was to limit my nuts serving to 1 a day, and I did achieve that. It was a challenge for me to stop eating once I started (salty! crunchy!) and I have decided to stop buying almonds or any other nuts. I've enjoyed reading other pledges and it's given me good ideas for week 2.
My pledge was to get my peanut butter addiction under control...only went one day this week without it...still gotta work on it some..
Did you achieve your goal? Yep I did and I am so proud of myself
What challenged or inspired you? I took all my vits everyday but it was challenging to remember to take them
How will you keep this goal going? sheer stubbornness lol no I finally got an app to help remind me.
I pledged to get at least 80g of protein a day. I accomplished this every day except 1 (that day was 73g). I know how important protein is and that will definitely keep me on track.
This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to walk everyday and I did everyday but not as much as I would have liked. It was challenging because my surgery was Monday and some days I haven't felt like walking. I am looking forward to walking with my dog when I am further along in the healing process. Right now he pulls too much.
I took the pledge to drink at least 64oz of water per day....did much better while working but not as good when I'm home :( Got to work more on that! But I do feel better having done this at work...yay me!

I pledged to stay off the scale and pretty much met my goal - I did get on the morning of my OB appointment, but I could not, not know the differnce between my scale and theirs! Both agreed with a 1lb gain, and I am okay with that! (Being okay with that is HUGE at this point!! LOL)
I made sure I did NOT get on by removing the scale from my bathroom to the bedroom - and did not let myself carry it off the carpet until I needed to so I would NOT be as tempted...
My pledge was to get in my 64 ounces of fluid. I don't think I achieved this everyday but I got much closer than normal. I have been setting an alarm after I eat to make sure I start drinking as soon as I can. I also did some research on water bottles and purchased a new one online that should arrive soon. It has a special bite valve which will allow me to drink through a straw without taking in any air and is insulated so it will keep the water cold. It will also help me to measure how much I'm drinking which will allow me to keep a better eye on how I am doing.
I think this was good and it helped to focus on one thing rather than all of the things I need to focus on.

This week I pledged to journal my food intake.
* Did you achieve your goal?
Not every day, but most of them. I was sick with flu and missed two days because I spent most of that time in bed and simply wasn't feeling up to doing anything else.
* What challenged or inspired you?
I was inspired to journal by members of my support group, who insist that it's one of the things that greatly contributes to their success.
* How will you keep this goal going?
I've got my food journal sitting next to me where I eat my meals, so there won't be too many legitimate excuses for not doing it.
This last week, I pledged to walk every day, without fail. I managed four of the six days. On the other hand, I had a good reason, I got a job!
Love you all!

For week 1 I pledged to make it to the gym at least twice during the week.
Did you achieve your goal? I made it to the gym twice this week and on day one did 25 min of cardio and 10 min of weights, day two I did 35 of cardio and 10 min of weights...
What challenged or inspired you?My inspiration was looking back at what I acheived and all my friends who have kept me going, knowing this is hard work and I got this! And this blog has been very helpful as well...
How will you keep this goal going? two days is what I will hit every week at a minimum.
We can do it!

This week I pledged to drink at least 64oz of water every day. I managed to drink that or more while at work but not on the weekend :(
I was inspired while meeting my water goal during the work week because I could tell a positive difference in the way I felt. I will set alarms during the weekend to drink water!!!
I pledged to get at least 3 days of exercise in this week for the challenge. I managed to get 2 days in but didn't exercise for as long as I wanted. Going forward I need to manage my time a little better in order to have time to exercise. I do want to continue with this challenge for another week. I hope to meet it this week. Thanks, JC

I pledged to kick the refined sugar habit. I did great except for the second day when I absently ate a piece of chocolate. The rest of the week I did great. I plan to keep up the good work by focusing on my ultimate goal of reaching my goal weight. It felt good to be able to meet this small goal and my Week Two goal will also help me stay away from refined sugars.
This week I pledged to workout at least 4 times this week. I have not achieved this goal yet, but as I have set plans for the gym tomorrow, I will definitely be achieving it by tomorrow afternoon! I was inspired mostly by this challenge, but also the great feeling I get after working out! Like I said, I will be going to the gym tomorrow, and I hope to keep working out 4 times a week every week for the rest of my life!

My week 1 pledge was to take all of my vitamins every day. I made it! It was a great week and I'll be keeping it up!

FYI
I submitted this yesterday, but don't see my comment posted. So I figured, I'd try again.
This week I am taking the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to watch my snacking.
•Did you achieve your goal? Yes
•What challenged or inspired you? The challenge is late at night, a few hours after dinner.
•How will you keep this goal going?
Be mindful of what I'm eating

This week I pledged to up my protein intake. I have achieved that goal. Even if it is only a cheese stick, I have chosen better snacks, which helped me get to my goal.
This week I took the Bariatric Foodie Pledge to work out at least 4 times. It was challenging and I only got 3 workouts in because of work commitments (I've been working 12 hour days) and waking up sick yesterday. But I’m going to keep this goal going by making it a part of my routine throughout the week.

This week I took the Bariatric Foodie pledge to work out at least three times. I struggled and managed to get 2 in.....but then I actually did it again last night, so technically that was my 3! I am sore today, which is a good thing....because it will remind me and motivate me to keep it up!
Linking back to my comment above (#27) as I didn't exactly answer the questions. :-)
Did you achieve your goal? Yep!
What challenged or inspired you? Seeing how I was doing with my calories really inspired me to make better choices.
How will you keep this goal going? I'm going to continue tracking each day for as long as possible by taking a few minutes each night enter my foods.
This week i pledged to stop grazing on sweets. It was hard the first two days, however I did exceptionally well. What inspired me and what will keep me motivated to contiue to eat healthy snacks instead of sweets is my diabetic husband who is trying to live a better and healthier lifestyle
This week I pledged to once again resume daily protein shakes. I was successful 5/7 days. I'm leaving with gall stones so there were a couple days I just want feeling it. I think I've re developed the habit though so yay! Just remembering daily why I did this and I need my shakes to get me there
Nikki - I hope I am doing this correctly.
My goal was to go to the gym 3 times last week and drink one bottle of water while I was there.
Unfortunately, I did not meet my goal. I did go to the gym 2 times and took 2 one hour classes each time I was there.
However, I decided to start walking the steps at work and did them twice - 100 steps each time. And, I wasn't even winded.
As far as the water, I drank 1 full bottle the first time and 1/2 a bottle the second time I went to the gym. After walking the steps, I did complete my desired water intake.

I pledged to do four hours of yoga and run three times this past week. Unfortunately I came down with a stomach virus Sunday night and missed my goal. I was feeling normal enough to start back on my routine Saturday morning. Today I will do my second hour of yoga and make my first run.
I really enjoy both of these activities and intend to continue this goal. I have a yoga membership and a gym membership. The hardest part is the running. There's no class to attend where someone will hold me accountable so I just have to make an effort to just get it done.
Week 2 Pledge I am going to make time four nights this week for ME to workout. I am also going to journal everything I intake. I am strong and I believe in me Amy Johnson! Bunnies67@gmail.com
